A home for Gambian sound
Kora Sounds began when a handful of producers, engineers and musicians got tired of watching Gambian talent travel abroad just to record properly. So we built a studio worth staying for.
From our rooms in Banjul we record, produce, mix and master across every genre — and we bring the kora and the griot tradition into modern records that sound like nowhere else. We're as much a collective as a studio: artists develop here, collaborate here, and leave with music they're proud to release.
To give Gambian artists a world-class place to create at home — and to push our own sound, old and new, out to the world.

Frequently asked questions
How do I book studio time?+
Message us on WhatsApp with what you're working on — a single, an EP, a jingle — and we'll talk through your project, recommend the right session and hold your slot. First consultation is free.
Do you mix and master in-house?+
Yes. Our engineers handle the full chain — recording, mixing and mastering — so your track leaves release-ready and loud enough to sit beside anything on streaming.
Can you record live kora and traditional instruments?+
Absolutely — it's our signature. We record kora, balafon and griot vocals and fuse them into modern productions, or capture them on their own with full clarity.
Do you help new and unsigned artists?+
That's the heart of what we do. Beyond recording, we develop artists — shaping your sound, planning releases and connecting you with our collective. Come in with a song and an idea; leave with a direction.
